What a spell binding performance this evening by Carnatic vocalist Dr. G. S. Balamurali! Concert was rich in content, and proved to be a quality experience. Began the concert briskly with Bhajamaanasa (Bhahudhaari). Followed by Maamava Meenakshi (Varaali), Marukelara (Jayanthasree), Annapoorne (Shyama), Gopalaka paahima (revagupthi), Saamagaanalolane (Hindolam), Mahadeva Shiva Shambo (Revathy), Raghuvamshasudham (Kadhanakuthoohalam). Ennaalu uraka (shubhapandhuvaraali), Aarabhimaanam (Raaghamaalika), showed his experience on the concert platform - the structure, planning and allocation of time that goes with it. Delineated the raga with all attendant niceties and it was quite protracted as well. Krishna nee begane (yaman kalyani), Bhaja Bhaja Maanasa (Sindhibhairavi), Ennathavam (Kaappi), Radhasametha (Yaman Kalyani) had a calming influence on the mind. Sri. R. Swaminathan on violin, Sri. Aadoor Babu on Mridangam & Sri. Kannur Santhosh on Morsing combined well to take the audience to a musical `Yatra' during their performance at Perumchellur Sangeetha Sabha, Taliparamba held at P. Neelakanta Iyer Memorial Hall on 26 May 2019. It was indeed a serene recital. A sincere exercise and a dedicated performance?. R. Swaminathans violin faithfully reproduced all the sancharas and the clarity of the notes bowed out was laudable. A spirited, high-decibel tani by Aadoor Babu and Santhosh won applause from the audience.
