Dr. Karthik Parameshwaran...the winner of ‘The Hindu and Saregama MS Subbulakshmi Award 2018 Voice of the Year’, lived up to the title at his concert for Perumchellur Sangeetha Sabha, Taliparamba. The Kerala-based singer’s pliable voice made his performance a pleasant experience.

      Karthiks' relationship with Carnatic music began ever since he started learning under his father, flautist Parameswaran KN. For 20 years now, he has been learning without a break. An Ayurvedic doctor from Moozhikkulam, music has been an inseparable part of his identity. Currently learning under CR Vaidyanathan, Chennai, Karthik displayed his expertise in both raga expositions and swara passages. He was accompanied by youngsters — Brahmanandan (violin) Nagaraj Nochur (mridangam) & Kannur Santhosh on morsing. Karthik’s elaboration of Ritigowla in the lower, middle and upper regions displayed his skill in bringing out the beauty of the raga phrases. His choice of kriti was very much apt for a new sabha like us.The swara segments were effectively developed and rounded off well. Karthik, An All India Radio B-Grade artist, is one among the four musicians who won the Scholarship for Young Artists by the Centre for Cultural Research and Training. He was the recipient of the Agnivesha Award for the brightest Ayurveda scholar by the Kottakkal Ayurveda College in 2018, an event which had Ayurveda medicine student participants from all over the country.
